Avocados seem to be popping up everywhere, and with notable nutritional value, it’s for good reason.

The dense nutrition from this hearty fruit helps fuel your body and keeps you feeling full longer.

There is no other fruit quite like avocados. Yep, an avocado is a fruit.

Avocados contain a whopping 4 grams of protein and only 0.2 grams of sugar — they even contain nearly half the daily recommended intake of fiber.  These nutrient-packed fruits also help lower cholesterol levels, reduce the risk of diabetes, promote lower body weight and help prevent cancer.

And while the health benefits of avocados are many, they are probably best known as the main ingredient in guacamole. But don’t get stuck in a guacamole-only rut. Avocados are a delicious addition to sandwiches in place of less healthy dressings and transform salads into filling meal options. Their creamy texture and healthy fats also make for a surprisingly easy baking substitution for butter.

You don’t have to eat avocados to reap their benefits — incorporate them into your beauty routine to improve the health of your hair and skin. You can use avocados to moisturize skin, treat sunburns and repair damaged hair.
Avocado Face Mask
The natural oils in the avocado revives dry skin, honey naturally kills germs and reduces swelling and inflammation, and the lactic acid in the yogurt soothes and softens skin while refining pores. When selecting avocados at your local grocery store or farmers’ market, keep in mind when you plan to use the fruit since they continue to ripen after they’ve been harvested. A fruit that yields to firm, gentle pressure is ripe and ready to eat. If it does not yield, it should ripen within a couple of days. Avoid fruits that are very soft or have visible indentations, as this indicates over ripeness and bruising. So add avocados to your grocery list this summer and take advantage of the many benefits this versatile fruit has to offer!
