Have you had a chance to sample our area’s colorful, fresh-off-the-farm fruits and veggies this summer? If you are looking for a great way to experience a variety of fresh, nutritious, and not to mention, delicious food, our local farmers markets are the perfect destination.
He shares some heart-healthy produce selections, discovers what’s currently in season — including tomatoes, corn on the cob, berries and melons — and what the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program is all about.
“I like to call it a subscription to the farms. You pay ahead of time and then once a week the CSA coming from Fallon will deliver boxes of fresh produce at the hospital,” Ann says. “There are probably 30, 40, 50 people that every week will get a fresh box of seasonal produce.”
