The Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) currently has 11 members and is seeking two new members. This council is dedicated to improving the patient experience and benefits from having dedicated members from a multitude of backgrounds. Heather Bridges, Renown Health’s Patient Experience Specialist and facilitator of the advisory council, shared information about the council and how to get involved.

Renown Health recognizes that patient-centered care is a vital component in providing service excellence focusing on quality, safety, experience and value. The PFAC empowers patients and families to take an active role at Renown Health. The group participates in quality improvement initiatives, policies, strategies, and services.

Most importantly, the PFAC provides a forum to create more meaningful programs to truly serve the needs of the community and to infuse a deeper understanding of the patient experience within all levels of the organization.

The Importance of Diversity and Inclusion

In a recent message to the community, Renown Health’s CEO and President, Dr. Slonim, shared the importance of focusing on diversity and inclusion in order to improve the health of our Northern Nevada community.

“Five years ago at Renown Health, we made the goal of improving the health of our community the foundation of our work. Improving the health, and the lives of thousands of people takes a strong set of beliefs. Beliefs that guide, motivate and inspire every person, idea, conversation, action and outcome. Beliefs that reinforce our character, and solidify our resolve. Our values of caring, integrity, collaboration and excellence, unite and guide us in helping others in sickness and in health. Our mission, vision and values are the essence of what makes us Renown.”

This goal of improving the health of our community cannot be accomplished without seeking out input from people of different backgrounds.
