Dr. Anthony Slonim has been listed among the nation’s best and brightest physician executives. How you can help him reach the final 50 and put northern Nevada healthcare in the national spotlight.
For the third year in a row, Renown Health President and CEO Anthony Slonim, M.D., DrPH, is being honored nationally for his innovation and leadership in healthcare here in northern Nevada.
Dr. Slonim is among the 150 prestigious nominees short listed for Modern Healthcare’s “50 Most Influential Physician Executives and Leaders” honor. This exclusive list features executives from elite hospitals across the country including the Cleveland Clinic and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Dr. Slonim is one of just 34 west coasters and the only Nevadan to be recognized.
This honor is once again putting Renown and Reno healthcare in the national spotlight. And now it’s your chance to help our region get the recognition it deserves as a healthcare leader.
A National Leader
This distinguished nomination for the third year running adds to Dr. Slonim’s resume as a national healthcare leader.
Dr. Slonim was recently named the inaugural editor-in-chief for the American Association of Physician Leadership’s (AAPL) Physician Leadership Journal and online Physician Leadership Library. In his role, Dr. Slonim leads an editorial board of 20 board-certified physician executives from all over the world, deciding the content and editorial design for a publication that reaches 16,000 physician executives worldwide. This magazine addresses some of the most pressing national and international challenges in the industry including healthcare reform, system design, patient safety and quality and informatics.
For the last four years, Dr. Slonim has chaired the American Journal of Managed Care’s ACO Coalition, setting the agenda and integrating with leaders of the nation’s accountable care organizations to discuss healthcare reform and the agile responses needed by ACOs. Dr. Slonim was also recently appointed to the American Hospital Association’s (AHA) Health Care Systems Council. In this esteemed role, he is a thought leader representing more than 250 integrated health systems in the U.S. and their concerns to the AHA Board.
Here at home, Dr. Slonim co-chairs the Truckee Meadows Healthy Communities’ board, a collaborative of thought leaders that establishes the agenda for addressing the health and healthcare needs for the more than 500,000 residents who call northern Nevada home. He also determines the solutions needed to drive better health while engaging care providers in our community.
Reinventing Reno’s Health and Healthcare
Under Dr. Slonim’s leadership, Renown Health has welcomed groundbreaking partnerships and strategic collaborations. Most notably, we collaborated with the Desert Research Institute and personal genetics company 23andMe to pioneer one of the world’s leading community-based genetic health studies with more than 10,000 northern Nevadans taking part.
Dr. Slonim has also forged affiliations with Stanford Health Care, Stanford Children’s Health and Stanford University School of Medicine; the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine and the SGU School of Medicine. These collaborations have expanded specialty and subspecialty care available in northern Nevada and are bringing more highly trained care providers to the Silver State. He also announced $64 million in new facilities, services and lifesaving technology for our region; increased Renown’s community benefit by more than $1 million; and helped raise $7.5 million to launch a pediatric residency while bringing more pediatric specialists to our region; as well as $5 million for the Child Health Institute, which is striving to become one of a handful of pediatric ACOs in the country.
These accomplishments are just a few highlights of the leading-edge care being offered locally, accomplishments that put Reno and Renown among some of the biggest and brightest names in the country.
