Vaccinate and Celebrate: Top Nevada healthcare providers honored at Silver Syringe Awards for vaccinations efforts.
Any Nevada healthcare provider who offers vaccinations has a shot at winning a Silver Syringe Award. But only the best will achieve this distinguished honor at the 16th Annual Silver Syringe Awards.
“This event is about celebrating the successes of the many people and organizations who are helping keep Nevada’s citizens healthy through immunizations,” notes Heidi Parker, executive director of Immunize Nevada. “There are many passionate individuals who have dedicated their careers to immunizations and improving public health. This evening gives us the opportunity to recognize their commitment to making Nevada a healthier state.”
Renown Health, a sponsor of the Silver Syringe Awards, applauds Immunize Nevada for its many immunization and awareness efforts. We partner with the Reno-based nonprofit to inform new moms about the need for and benefits of vaccines for children through The Pregnancy Center, text4baby and the PINK project.
Through a pilot program and grant funding, Immunize Nevada offers flu and Tdap vaccines at Washoe County schools. “These clinics impact numerous families, lowering the number of seriously ill children coming through Renown’s Children’s ER,” comments Keri Piper-Colonna, Nurse Manager of Renown Regional Emergency Room. “Immunize Nevada does a great job of partnering with our community to keep people healthy.”
Trudy Larson, MD, Director of the School of Community Health Sciences at the University of Nevada, Reno will deliver this year’s keynote presentation at the ceremony on Saturday, March 1 at the Peppermill Resort Hotel from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
