This year’s New Year celebration took on a different tone for Reno residents Cora and Brian Borello. The two became parents for the second time — welcoming their first little boy New Year’s morning.
Baby Sebastian Salem Eugene Borello came into the world on his due date at 1:04 a.m. on Jan. 1, weighing 7 pounds and 3.3 ounces. Little Sebastian was the first baby born in Reno in 2018. Cora says her contractions began New Year’s Eve morning, and by 8:30 p.m. the couple arrived at Renown Children’s Hospital. She remembers hearing the fireworks as the clock struck midnight, but was surprised to learn that her little boy was the first baby born in Reno in 2018.
Cora, a licensed cosmetologist, and Brian, a professional chef, are thrilled to welcome their first little boy. The couple already has an adorable 1-year-old girl named Freya. Cora comes from a big family (she has 13 siblings), and she and Brian hope to expand their family in the future by adopting five more children.
Cora and Brian were delighted to observe that their baby boy has his mother’s nose and his father’s eyebrows. Sebastian is welcomed by mom and dad, his big sister, his grandmothers Katherine Sunn and Trena Burello, who was there for the delivery — and the excited Labor & Delivery nurses at Renown Children’s Hospital. The nurses helped celebrate the Borello’s 2018 addition with sparkling apple cider and funny New Year hats. Sounds like a great way to ring in the New Year and welcome their first baby boy!
Congratulations and here’s to a wonderful year ahead from our Renown family to the Borello family — and everyone who calls northern Nevada home.
