Dance the Night Away for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals

What is your favorite dance? Do you have moves like Jagger? Break out your best steps at the Miracle Madness Dance Marathon, your chance to bust-a-move and help make miracles happen for children in our area.

It’s time to grab your dancing shoes for the Fourth Annual Miracle Madness Dance Marathon from 3 to 9 p.m. April 2 at the Joe Crowley Student Union at the University of Nevada, Reno. The Phi Delta Epsilon Fraternity is once again sponsoring this six-hour, student-run dance marathon to raise money and awareness for Renown Children’s Hospital, the only Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospital in our area. The event will also include families and staff from Renown Children’s Hospital sharing their miracle stories throughout the night. All ages are invited to attend.

Diana Otuwa, vice president of programming for the dance marathon, says there are 83 members of the fraternity working to reach their goal of raising $25,000.Dance-marathon-small

“The dance marathon is only six hours, and that is such a short time to help children who endure so much,” Otuwa says. “We are supporting Renown Children’s Hospital, the doctors and nurses who do so much to help children.”

Phi Delta Epsilon is an medical fraternity, and their international philanthropic and service partner is CMN Hospitals. The founding class of Phi Delta Epsilon UNR spearheaded the Miracle Madness Dance Marathon event in 2012.

To boost donations for the event, Phi Delta Epsilon members are also fundraising individually. Each member is asked to raise a certain amount through social media and encourage others to give through a link on Facebook. The fraternity is also asking businesses and individuals to donate.

There are several ways to support the event:

Get Your Dancin’ Shoes On. Dance away to the music from Las Vegas DJ Pr3nup, who is donating his time to the event. Tickets are on the Miracle Madness Dance Marathon Facebook page. Presale tickets are $7, or $10 at the event. All participants will receive a t-shirt.

Give a Little, Get a Little. The community has donated some exciting raffle items that will be awarded during the event. Items include a free six-week Brik class with Kaia FIT Sierra, two dinner and movie packages, a $50 gift card to a coffee shop, and gift certificates to Great Full Gardens, USwirl and more. Raffle tickets for $1 will be sold during the event.

You Say You Don’t Dance? There are plenty of other activities planned, including craft booths, playground games, food booths and a mini field day. Teams that compete in the mini field day will have the chance to receive a gift certificate to Raising Cane’s restaurant.

Can’t Be There in Person? You can still make a difference in the lives of children dealing with complex medical issues. Through the donor page you can make a contribution to CMN Hospitals and recruit your friends and family by sharing the link through social media.
