Born two months premature, Rafael Salmela was cared for in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Renown Children’s Hospital for two months. When he was four months old, he returned to the hospital with breathing problems resulting in a breathing tube and specialized treatment under Sonia Budhecha, MD, Pediatrician in Children’s Specialty Care.

Today at 6-years-old, he is breathing tube free and making big strides at home and in school.
