A day of pampering was on the schedule for women who work at the Washoe County School District, thanks to Renown’s Hometown Health.
Renown’s not-for-profit Hometown Health insurance provider recently partnered with the Washoe County School District to give teachers and other female school district staff a unique health and wellness experience.
Called “Clean Slate,” the women’s health event was full of pampering. “So many of us women always put ourselves last,” says Elise Compston, wellness coordinator for Washoe County School District. “We have spouses. We have children. We have our careers, and the very last person we think about is ourselves. So we really wanted to take this day and allow women to focus on themselves.”
The event focused on the spiritual, physical, social, emotional and intellectual aspects of health and wellness. There were fitness demonstrations, healthy foods, meditation seminars, acupuncture, spray tanning and a fashion show, among other offerings.
“I think it is so nice to see all these women together and everybody has a positive attitude,” says Robin Rife, a school counselor for the district. “It’s been really nice to see people that we know and just connect as women.”
