Get the best medicine at every meal with Food for Life. Sign up for a six-class series starting Sept. 20 and learn how healthful, plant-based eating can transform your health.

Not sure what to put on your plate for optimum return on your nutrition? Food for Life can help.

Food for Life is an award-winning program of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM). Designed by nurses, doctors and registered dietitians, this plant-based program stresses the importance of eating the right foods for good health and the prevention and treatment of disease and chronic illness.

Christopher Wyatt, Food for Life instructor and retail food and beverage manager at Renown, is collaborating with PCRM to offer a Food for Life six-class series beginning Sept. 20 at Renown Health.

“The series can help anyone who wants to lose weight, lower their cholesterol, fight the potential for cancer, or simply feel energized and healthier,” Wyatt says.

In the classes, participants will learn simple ways to change or improve upon their diet. They’ll be introduced to new foods and interesting ways to prepare them, learn their health benefits and how they discourage disease.

“Food for Life classes are much more than lectures or textbook lessons,” Wyatt says. “They’re a great balance of group discussion, nutritional information, short videos, cooking presentations and food tastings.”

Sign-up! To participate in the Food for Life series at Renown or to receive more information, please contact Wyatt at cwyatt@renown.org (Hometown Health members who complete the series earn four Healthy Tracks points).

When: 4-6 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 20 to Oct. 25

Location: Renown Regional Medical Center, Artisans Room 107

Cost: $60 for the six-class series
