For Veterans Day, Renown is saluting those who serve, including our more than 100 active military and veterans on staff.
Felicia Booth, a Renown Health employee and Army Reserve soldier, believes that many of the positions that soldiers have in the Army can be a fit in healthcare.
“For example, there are nurses, doctors, food service, security, finance, human resources and supply, all of which are positions we have here at Renown,” she says. “Many of the tangible skills a solider learns in the Army can be translated into civilian employment, but I think it is the intangibles — things like values and culture — that make the biggest difference.”
Booth was speaking at the announcement of a new collaboration that connects enlisting soldiers and ROTC cadets to potential jobs at Renown. The health network is the first in Nevada to participate in the Army’s Partnership for Youth Success (PaYS) Program to provide those who serve our country an opportunity to prepare for their futures.
Opening Doors for Veterans and Active Duty Military
The PaYS program partners, such as Renown, guarantee soldiers an interview and possible employment after the Army. This one-of-a-kind program is part of the Army’s effort to partner with America’s business community and reconnect America with its Army.
Renown is privileged to have more than 100 active military and veterans on staff. Since 2008, the health network has seen 35 full-time, active duty deployments by its employees. In addition to supporting current military and veteran employees, Renown is committed to bringing new veterans on board. This partnership is an excellent opportunity to keep veterans in our community by matching the job needs of Renown with the job skills offered by the Army.
