Renown Health President and CEO Tony Slonim, MD, DrPH, discusses efforts nationwide to develop a more effective and efficient way to deliver care. explains how technology and innovation are imperative for delivering quality care in a modern world.
At Renown Health, we are constantly looking to improve the ways in which we deliver care. How can we make it more effective, more convenient, and more accessible? For answers to those questions, we look to the people and the communities we serve. We are lucky to live in an age when technology is helping us to re-imagine how we deliver health care so that it can fit more smoothly and conveniently into the lives of our patients.
We recognize that for working families, a trip to the doctor’s office means time away from the workplace and, potentially, lost income. At Renown, we’re looking to telehealth as a promising new way to deliver care without people having to learn their home or office.
For people living in the rural communities we serve, a visit to a specialist can mean a very long drive. At Renown, we’re looking at how technology and mobile devices can help us deliver care to our patients on the frontier so they don’t have to drive hours to reach our facilities. Again, this is an area where telehealth is helping to improve access to high quality specialty care you might only find in more urban areas.
I was recently interviewed about the ways technology is allowing us to engage patients. The article appears in the June issue of eHealthcare Strategies and Trends, a magazine that focuses on how hospitals and health systems invest in the Internet and digital technology to better meet the healthcare and information needs of their patients.
